He is the author of the legendary song “El Manisero” (the peanut seller), considered among the most diffused in Cuba in the whole 20th century. He composed such piece in response to a request by his friend Alejo Carpentier. He is also the author of numberless operettas, more diffused in France and Spain than in Cuba.
