Fighter for the Liberation of Cuba in the Sierra Maestra. He founded in 1940 the Cuban Speleological society, where he was the president and director of its museum. Since 1959, he was given a great amount of responsibilities. He was awarded more than 95 decorations and 180 certificates. His vast work includes more than 190 books and booklets and 1665 articles.
