Awarded the National Theater Prize in 2004, he is considered among the great figures of Cuban contemporary culture. His artistic life has been defined as multifaceted since he has projected his work into different activities such as: actor, director, playwright, musical composer, and singer in theater, radio, television or cinema. He has turned to be a theater chronicler of Cuban life and his way of doing theater has constituted a popular success for more than three decades.
