Self-taught and later achieving the Doctor degree on Historical Sciences and the Master degree on Archeological Sciences, he is the Historian of the City of Havana and Director of the Restoration Program of the Historical Core of Havana, declared by UNESCO Heritage Site of Humankind in 1982. He is also the Director of the Museum of the City and the Office of the Historian. He has been decorated and awarded in tens of countries, including the Cuban National Prize of Community Culture (1999).
