Known as “El Guayabero”, he has always lived in Holguin, in the northeastern section of Cuba. A minstrel for excellence, he is the author of numerous sones like Tumbaito, El Guayabero, Como vengo este año, Mañana me voy and Que baile Marieta, among others. In 2002, he was awarded the National Humor Prize.
