Born in Guanabacoa, she is considered by many, due to her talent and versatility, as the most universal exponent among Cuban artists. She is worldwide known as “La Única” (the one and only). Rita Montaner was a gifted singer and the protagonist of the first Cuban films such as Romance en el Palmar. She also made theater in other countries like Mexico, Argentina, France, and the United States. Someone wrote about her: “She becomes a rigorous lesson for every artist”.
