  ARQUÍMIDES POUS  (1891-1926)

He is considered as the most popular character of el negrito (little negroe) from the Cuban vernacula theater. His debut was at Actualidades Theater being 15 years. He worked integrally as writer, director, choreographer, dancer, director and interpreter of his own works. Heading his own company, he visited other countries of Latin America and Europe. Writer Rine Leal summarized the greatness of this sort of theater: his fame rose so high that his natal city Cienfuegos erected a statue for him and no other Cuban has achieved such honor.
