Santiago de Cuba witnessed his birth. He is one of the major historical Commanders of the Revolution in Cuba. As assaulter to Cuartel Moncada, he was condemned to ten years in prison for such audacious act; he was also a Granma expeditionary and fought at La Sierra Maestra. In addition to numerous responsibilities, he is currently Vice-President of the State Council and Titular of the Association of Fighters for the Cuban Revolution. Parallel to all these duties, he is writer of diverse books, standing out also as composer of songs which have transcending in time.
