He was born in Santa Isabel de Las Lajas, Cienguegos. Known as Benny Moré, he is, according to the musical specialist Helio Orovio: “unanimously considered one of the most genial artists produced by our popular music. He glimmered in all genres”. Being the most extraordinary and genial of the interpreters of popular music in Cuba, he treasured an excellent voice which timbre has never being equaled.
